Imagine if your entire life your name your National ID your home address your parents passport scans and your salary could be bought by some stranger for just a few dollars. This is not a scene from a movie. This is happening in Egypt today in 2026 and the people whose data was stolen don’t even know it yet.

Egyptian Records Leak

A user on a major cybercrime forum posted an offer for sale of a 37GB SQL database containing data on 1.5 million Egyptian students. This includes not only names and email addresses but also national ID numbers home addresses, university registrations, parental ID scans and in some cases visa and passport photos. Another database contains over 56 million records including salary details job history financial transactions and login credentials.

This is so dangerous because the people who buy this data can easily dupe you by calling you using your real name and mentioning your real university. This is called spear phishing and is much more dangerous than a normal scam. The threat actor has attached some samples for your benefit. I am attaching those samples here. You can see them.

As you can seen above that these 2 images but they have been blurred due toprivacy. Lets take a minute assume that your data is with some unknown person who does crime and he sells the data to hide his identity and this data is being sold. This could be a breach of your data. For this reason, do not enter your details anywhere other than government portals and this data is being sold and cyber criminals misuse it.

The Real Issue & What You Should Do

This is not just a database leak. Its a systemic failure. Egypt enacted a data protection law in 2020, but its implementation is still lagging behind. When millions of people give their data to institutions and they expect it to be safe.

If you studied at an Egyptian university or worked for a large organization and start monitoring your accounts now. Never trust any links or calls that ask for your personal details. Turn on two-factor authentication. And report any suspicious messages instead of ignoring them.

This breach is not just a technical incident it is a crisis affecting the lives of millions of real people which needs to be addressed seriously.
